US retailer Whole Foods Market has appointed three new global vice-presidents.

Sonya Gafsi Oblisk will serve as global vice-president for marketing, Martin Tracey as global vice-president of team member services, and Brooke Buchanan as global vice-president of communications.

Sonya Gafsi Oblisk will be responsible for the company’s marketing, advertising and brand development efforts, including digital, brand marketing and customer relationship strategies.

She brings more than 15 years of experience in retail, consumer products and affinity marketing, including an eight-year tenure at Wal-Mart where she recently served as marketing vice-president for Sam’s Club.

Tracey will have strategic responsibilities for the end-to-end team member experience, including recruitment, compensation and benefits, talent analytics, learning and development and payroll operations for more than 87,000 team members. Most recently, he served at Starbucks where he was responsible for leadership development, talent analytics, and organisational development.

Buchanan will be responsible for Whole Foods Market’s public relations, internal communications and government affairs efforts.  She previously served as communications vice-president for Theranos, and public relations vice-president for Williams-Sonoma.

Recording more than $15.4bn revenue in the last fiscal year, Whole Foods operates more than 455 stores in the US, Canada and the UK.
