Canadian food retailer Loblaw Companies, in partnership with Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), is piloting its PC Express pick-up services at three Toronto subway stations.

The three locations are Finch, High Park and Islington stations, which operate under the TTC network.

As part of the pilot, customers can pre-order groceries online at pcexpress.ca or via the company’s app, for pick-up, on their way home.

Groceries will be delivered from nearby Real Canadian Superstore locations using a customised, temperature-controlled PC Express truck.

Loblaw said orders will be available for pick-up between 4pm and 7pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, if placed by 11am. Customers near the High Park station can also place orders by 9am on Saturday and Sunday for pick up between 2pm to 5pm.

Loblaw Companies digital senior vice president Herman Paek said: “PC Express will make Toronto commuters’ lives a little bit easier by putting their groceries right on their transit route home.

“As we cover the GTA with easy grocery pick-up and delivery options, we’re helping our customers live their lives uninterrupted, spending more time doing the things they love.”

The retailer is also allowing customers to place online orders for pick-up from nearly 700 stores, across most major markets nationwide, or opt for home delivery.

The PC Express service is also available at six GO Train commuter stations from Burlington to Whitby.

Loblaw announced plans, in June last year, to invest $150m per year in sourcing local fresh produce until 2025.
