Retail chain Wilko has announced the upcoming opening of a new store in Poole, Dorset, marking the continuation of its expansion under the new ownership of CDS Superstores, doing business as The Range.
The announcement comes as the retailer continues to open new stores across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The new Poole store will be located at the Dolphin Centre, with work commencing in spring 2024 and the launch date to be confirmed.
The store is part of a larger rollout plan which has already seen successful concept stores open in Plymouth, Exeter and Luton, and planned spring 2024 openings in Rotherham and St Albans.
Shoppers in Poole can look forward to a range of Wilko-brand products and other well-known brands to assist with home and garden tasks.
The Poole store follows the retailer’s strategy to enhance its physical presence and revitalise its online platform, wilko.com. The website now features 50,000 products and next-day delivery.
CDS Superstores is actively seeking partnerships with landlords across the UK to further the store rollout programme.
The Range acquired the brand and intellectual property rights of Wilko in September 2023.
The deal did not encompass the physical store locations.
Pepco Group, which owns Poundland in the UK, has entered an agreement with Wilko’s administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers and will potentially take over 71 store leases following the completion of lease assignments expected in early autumn 2024.
The administrators closed 52 Wilko stores, resulting in 1,016 redundancies.
