Vans’ London flagship store launches mobile checkout system 

Assisted by Retail Reply, the store has done away with traditional cash registers.

Sports footwear, apparel and accessories brand Vans has collaborated with Retail Reply to revamp its flagship store on Oxford Street in London, UK.  

The initiative continues the partnership between Retail Reply and Vans' parent, VF Corporation, that began in 2018, focusing on transforming the in-store shopping experience through advanced technology. 

The redesigned Vans store features an architectural layout with a central skateboarding section and an entirely new shopping model. 

With the expertise of Retail Reply, the store has discarded traditional cash registers in favour of a fully mobile checkout system operated by sales associates. 

The mobile-first approach is powered by the integration of "Tap to Pay" on iPhone, enabling these devices to function as complete payment terminals.  

Customers can finalise their transactions using physical cards, Apple Pay or other digital wallets, ensuring streamlined and hassle-free shopping.  

Sales associates are equipped to handle contactless payments directly on their iPhones, eliminating the need for separate payment hardware. 

The store, which re-opened on 29 November 2024, signifies Vans strategy of embracing advanced mobile tech and redefining convenience for their customers. 

Vans has established a significant international presence, with its product lines available in 100 countries. This extensive distribution is supported by a combination of subsidiaries, partnerships and dedicated international offices.  

The brand has more than 2,000 retail points worldwide, encompassing wholly-owned stores, concessions and collaborative spaces. 

Retail Reply helps clients in the retail, fashion and consumer industries leverage digital transformation and enhance customer experiences both in-store and online. 

It recently supported Bennet, a hypermarket and superstore company in Northern Italy, in implementing Stibo Systems' Customer Master Data Management (MDM) solution.
