Toys and baby products retailer Toys "R" Us is expanding its store network ahead of the holiday season with ten new store openings across Canada.

Toys"R"Us Canada is owned and operated in Canada by Putman Investments. The retailer has opened two new stores in British Columbia, three in Alberta, one in Ontario and one in Nova Scotia. The remaining three stores will open in Ontario, Québec and Nova Scotia next month.

Among others, the new stores include two new first-of-its-kind, stand-alone Babies "R" Us locations.

The openings will add more than 300,000ft²of retail space and bring the store count in the country to 105. It also operates online through Toysrus.ca and Babiesrus.ca.

Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us Canada will hold opening celebrations on 13-15 October to introduce the new stores to the local community.

As part of the celebrations, the retailer will host activities such as face-painting, balloon artists and interactive toy demos.

Toys "R" Us Canada merchandising & supply chain vice-president Nick Muriella said: "These openings couldn't have come at a better time. Our team has been working hard to bring our customers the best offers on the most sought-after toys and baby goods. We will be stocked with the must-have top toys of the season, giving our customers an early start on that gift list."

In May this year, brand management firm WHP Global partnered with travel retailer Duty Free Americas to debut the Toys "R" Us brand in Dallas/Fort Worth International airport (DFW), Texas.

Traditional AI is here to stay in the retail and apparel space

Initially, retailers used AI for basic tasks, including inventory management and demand forecasting. However, its usage has now become more prevalent in other aspects such as personalized marketing, customer service, pricing optimization, and supply chain management. With the rise of ecommerce and the increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, AI adoption in retail and apparel has accelerated. The industry now relies on AI to enhance the shopping experience, optimize business operations, and gain an overall competitive edge.
