US-based retailer Target plans to lower regular prices on more than 2,000 items across owned and national brands in preparation for the 2024 holiday season.
The retailer's price reduction strategy spans a range of products including food and beverages, everyday essentials and holiday gifts.
The reductions come as the retailer routinely adjusts prices to stay competitive.
In May 2024, Target committed to cutting prices on 5,000 items during the summer, and has reduced prices on more than 8,000 throughout the year.
By the end of the holiday season, it is expected that this figure will rise to more than 10,000 items.
Target executive vice-president and chief commercial officer Rick Gomez said: "We know families are excited to celebrate the holidays, so Target is committed to helping them find joy without compromise — with great products across our assortment at even lower prices.
"From meal prep and gifting to everyday needs, Target's offering the kind of exceptional value that'll make it even easier for everyone to save money as they embrace the magic of the season."
Target is also enhancing the holiday shopping experience with season-long deals and a diverse selection of gift options.
It offers its largest-ever holiday assortment with thousands of toys half-priced under $20, and exclusive products from both owned and national brands.
This assortment also features $5 and $10 items to accommodate any budget.
In September 2024, Target - which operates almost 2,000 stores - revealed its plan to hire 100,000 seasonal workers to support its operations during the coming holiday period.
