Starbucks Taiwan unveils its first Greener Store in Shalu Beishih

The store features exclusive merchandise, a specially designed Starbucks Card, and a new beverage type.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary in the Taiwanese market, Starbucks Taiwan has proudly introduced its inaugural certified Greener Store - the Shalu Beishih Store.

This marks a significant step in the coffee giant's global initiative to slash carbon emissions, water consumption, and landfill waste by 50% before 2030.

The Shalu Beishih Store adheres to the stringent standards set by the Greener Stores Framework, focusing on key environmental aspects such as energy efficiency, water stewardship, and appropriate waste diversion.

This framework, a part of Starbucks' broader strategy, aims to propel the shift towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly store practices.

The store stands out as the pioneer in Taiwan to incorporate electric vehicle charging stations, contributing to the region's efforts to embrace cleaner transportation options.

Furthermore, digital signage has been implemented to curtail paper usage while water recycling systems support irrigation needs. Energy-efficient appliances and the use of certified low-emission materials in interior design underscore Starbucks' commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.

Architectural inspiration and exclusive offerings

The Shalu Beishih Store showcases a unique architectural design inspired by the surrounding ocean waves and mountains. The building's arched roof symbolises the rhythmic progression of waves along the coastline and the majestic cascade of nearby mountains.

In addition to being a visual spectacle, the store offers exclusive merchandise tailored to reflect the distinctive architecture and surroundings. Starbucks enthusiasts can also get their hands on a specially designed Starbucks Card that captures the essence of the Shalu Beishih Store.

Local flavour in a cup

Alongside these eco-friendly endeavours, Starbucks has introduced a new beverage to its menu - the Brown Sugar Kuzuko Jelly Iced Shaken Black Tea Latte.

Drawing inspiration from the local environment, this refreshing drink combines the flavours of brown sugar Kuzuko, reminiscent of the autumn season, with a matcha milk foam that visually mirrors the nearby mountains.

Personalization has grown alongside online retail

Personalization has increased as technologies have advanced, with a retailer’s ability to collect, analyze, and utilize consumer data being aided by the effective use of analytics tools. Consumers are also increasingly individualistic, especially Gen Z, and want products that are specifically targeted to their needs and goals. These consumers are often willing to pay a premium for such items. Personalized products are currently especially prevalent in the health & beauty sector, due to the links to the health & wellness trend, which is also particularly important to young consumers.
