SPAR Switzerland, part of the SPAR Group Southern Africa, has expanded its retail footprint with the opening of a new SPAR Express store and the renovation of two existing stores. 

The retailer’s new SPAR Express store is situated on Hauptstrasse 52 in Niederurnen. 

The store, located on the main road, offers a wide selection of everyday items, including fresh produce, baked goods and snacks.  

It also serves early morning treats such as fresh croissants and Lavazza coffee.  

To improve convenience, the new SPAR Express in Niederurnen features a BP petrol station and a Bean Tree self-service bistro with indoor seating and a terrace. 

SPAR Switzerland previously revitalised the AVIA petrol station shop in Luzern that it acquired in 2021.

The expansion added a 30m² area to the shop, along with a new Bean Tree bistro.  

Opened at the end of April 2024, the renovated SPAR Express store offers 100m² of space with updated interiors including new walls, flooring, lighting and furniture. 

The store offers a range of fresh products, groceries and car accessories.  

SPAR Switzerland has also renovated the SPAR supermarket in Benken. 

The store reopened in May 2024, featuring energy-efficient lighting and cooling systems, electronic shelf labels and a self-scanning checkout. 

The supermarket offers a variety of fresh food, Lavazza coffee and snacks. 

It also maintains its postal services, beverage selection and an assortment of health-conscious products. 

In March 2023, SPAR Switzerland partnered with AVIA to open the first autonomous 24/7 SPAR Express forecourt store in Zurich.
