SPAR UK’s regional partner James Hall & Co has opened a new supermarket in Nafferton in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

The new 278m² location is a combination of a company-owned supermarket and a Shell forecourt.

The store offers a grocery selection including fresh produce, a butcher's, a deli and a coffee corner.

The SPAR supermarket Nafferton has created 30 jobs.

In the run-up to the opening, SPAR has supported local community groups, organisations and schools.

Celebrations included a choir performance by a local primary school and raffles with proceeds benefiting SPAR UK’s national charity partner, Marie Curie.

James Hall & Co is the SPAR UK wholesaler for the north of England.

James Hall & Co company stores director Fiona Drummond said: “We have been genuinely overwhelmed with the response from people in Nafferton to the launch of our new SPAR supermarket. The feedback has been outstanding, and I have relished getting out and about locally to support its opening which has only added to the enthusiasm in the area.”

“The store range is perfectly suited to Nafferton and the surrounding villages, and we have a great petrol forecourt too. Our locally employed store team will drive great standards and continue to build community links. I think it is a recipe for success and it has been one of our best launches to date.”

In March 2024, James Hall & Co opened a new 250m² SPAR convenience store at Netherfield Road in Nelson, Lancashire.

Cybersecurity in Banking and Payments

Due to the proliferation of data breaches and digital heists across the banking sector, banks must now comply with regulations that have implications for data handling, cyber risk testing, and incident reporting. Banks are also proactively exploring the prospect of using new technologies and initiatives alongside existing security controls to improve their risk postures and protect against potential future threats. Examples of these technologies include AI, biometric identification, behavioral science, and quantum computing.
