E-commerce giant Amazon has partnered with integrated payments and commerce technology provider Shift4 to improve the check-out-free experience for customers.
As part of the collaboration, Shift4 has integrated its VenueNext solution with Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology.
This implementation will offer a frictionless shopping experience by removing the need for shoppers to wait at check-out lines.
Shift4 new verticals senior vice-president vice Anthony Perez said: “We’re excited to collaborate with Amazon to give customers the fastest and most convenient shopping and payment experience imaginable.”
The solution can be used at the United Centre in Chicago, which will have seven Just Walk Out technology-powered stores.
To enter the Just Walk Out store, customers scan the VenueNext-powered mobile wallet.
Amazon's technology then tracks the shopper and creates a virtual shopping cart of the items they pick up.
Customers can leave the stores without having to stand at check-out lines and will be charged automatically from their mobile wallet.
Besides its integration with Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, Shift4’s commerce solutions can improve transaction experience across stadiums and arenas by offering mobile ordering, point-of-sale, guest loyalty, kiosk ordering and more.
AWS Applications, Just Walk Out technology vice-president Jon Jenkins said: “Shift4’s VenueNext solution furthers the frictionless shopping experience customers love about Just Walk Out technology.
“With the venue’s mobile wallet powered by Shift4, shoppers will find a convenient way to enter these stores, purchase the items they need and quickly get back to the game or performance. Stay tuned for additional venues with VenueNext for entry and payment coming soon.”
