Indian retailer Reliance Retail Ventures and Israel-based apparel manufacturer Delta Galil Industries have entered a strategic joint venture (JV) partnership in India.

The JV, with 50:50 ownership, is set to drive the country's apparel sector.

The initiative will create an innovation hub for apparel tailored to the specific preferences of the Indian consumer base.

Delta Galil brings its reputation for innovation and high-quality product offerings to the venture, aiming to broaden its reach in India's burgeoning market through a mix of retail, wholesale and online channels.

The company will also contribute design and production expertise for Reliance's proprietary brands.

Delta Galil CEO Isaac Dabah said: “Reliance Retail is one of the fastest-growing retail companies in the world and we are extremely proud to partner with the company as we look to tap into India’s dynamic consumer market, home to more than 1.4 billion consumers.

“This collaboration will allow us to combine our product design, innovation and manufacturing prowess with Reliance Retail’s extensive retail network and distribution reach, paving the way for accelerated growth of the intimate apparel and activewear categories throughout the country.”

Reliance Retail, known for its extensive sales and distribution network in India, will use the JV to access Delta Galil's specialised knowledge and innovative prowess in intimate wear and activewear.

These segments are expected to experience substantial growth in India, providing a strategic opportunity for both companies.

In May 2024, Reliance Retail signed a long-term exclusive licensing agreement with UK online fashion retailer ASOS.
