The expanded programme aims to equip staff with the knowledge and skills to create clothing that is more circular.

Primark is deepening its commitment to sustainable fashion with an expanded circular design training programme.

The fast-fashion giant has partnered with the Circular Textiles Foundation (CTF) to deliver advanced training to its design and product teams.

The programme aims to equip staff with the knowledge and skills to create clothing that is more easily recyclable.

This initiative builds on Primark’s previous circular design training, which reached more than 500 colleagues.

The new programme will delve deeper into circular principles, exploring how to apply them across different product categories.

Selected suppliers will also participate in the training.

Primark has set a target to make all its clothing recyclable by design by 2027.

The retailer has already incorporated circular principles into some collections and launched a line of 35 pieces aligned with its Circular Product Standard.

“This is the next step for us at Primark to really start embedding circular design principles into the core of how we design and make our products,” said Nicholas Lambert, head of circularity at Primark.

“Our teams are really looking forward to honing their skills and understanding where we can elevate our designs through this bespoke new training.”

"Sharing knowledge is crucial to tackling the industry's issues at pace and scale and this is where the Circular Textiles Foundation comes in. We are taking designing for recyclability mainstream, making it accessible and available to all,” added Tim Cross, founder of the CTF.

“We hope that by working with Primark we will take a step closer to encouraging industrywide change."

By investing in training and development, Primark demonstrates its dedication to addressing the environmental impact of the fashion industry.

As the retail sector increasingly focuses on sustainability, this move positions Primark as a leader in circular fashion.
