Cosmetics and personal care company L'Oréal’s China subsidiary has worked with automation solutions provider Hai Robotics to develop its new smart fulfilment centre.

The 46,000m² site in Suzhou Industrial Park houses Hai's goods-to-person solution, HaiPick System 1, including 39 HaiPick A42 multi-layer autonomous case-handling mobile robots (ACRs) and conveyor-picking workstations.

L'Oréal aims to handle D2C (direct-to-consumer) orders with flexibility, efficiency and scaleability, without compromising intelligence and sustainability for its supply chain operations.

Automation technology and information systems make L'Oréal’s Suzhou SMART fulfilment centre a key hub in the beauty brand's handling of D2C and B2B (business-to-business) orders in Mainland China - its second biggest market globally.

It will also allow L'Oréal to better support its commercial clients: e-commerce platforms, offline retailers and beauty salons.

Hai Robotics founder and CEO Richie Chen commented: "This partnership will facilitate supply chain transformation by improving operational efficiency, storage density and flexibility in tackling orders. We are proud to support L'Oréal in achieving their broader business objectives and look forward to what the future has to bring."

Founded in 1997, L’Oréal China has 25 brands, one research and innovation centre, one training centre, two plants in Yichang and Suzhou and five distribution centres across the nation.
