Supermarket chain Lidl US has expanded its Garden Center concept to 76 stores in the country, just in time for the spring season 2024.
The centres will offer plants, flowers, soil, hanging baskets, planters and gardening accessories.
The rollout of the concept will take place in three phases, with the first beginning on 27 March and running until 14 May 2024 in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
The second phase will start on 10 April and end on 14 May 2024 in Virginia and Maryland.
The final phase will launch on 24 April and conclude on 28 May 2024, extending to Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
Lidl has established partnerships with local, family-owned growers such as Gabrielsen Farms, American Color and van Hoekelen Greenhouses to facilitate the launch.
Lidl US floral purchasing director Tammy Roberts said: “We are excited to bring the Lidl Garden Center concept to even more customers this year. At Lidl, we are relentlessly focused on quality and freshness at low prices and our Garden Centers are no exception.
“We are delighted to work with our incredible partners Gabrielsen Farms, American Colour and van Hoekelen Greenhouses to provide our customers with the best plants and flowers for their gardens this spring.”
Lidl US trialled the Garden Center concept in 2022 in Long Island, New York, in collaboration with Gabrielsen Farms, a local grower of annuals, perennials, edible plants and shrubs.
Following the success of the pilot, the concept was expanded to additional Lidl stores in New York in 2023.
