American retailer Kroger has revealed its plan to hire more than 25,000 workers across its companies as it prepares for the 2024 holiday season and beyond.  

The roles span departments, including retail, e-commerce and healthcare. 

The recruitment drive invites candidates to consider a range of roles, from front-end clerks and baggers to pharmacy technicians and delivery drivers.  

Kroger senior vice-president and chief people officer Tim Massa said: "As we gear up for a memorable and festive holiday season for our customers, we are seeking to hire new associates excited to deliver exceptional service and demonstrate our core values, both for the season and their career. 

"We are committed to offering all associates a culture of opportunity, growth and a career with purpose. While many may join our team in pursuit of a job, we are so inspired to see every associate discover a fulfilling career." 

Kroger offers comprehensive compensation packages, which include competitive salaries and benefits such as healthcare and retirement plans.  

The retailer also supports continued education and personal development through a tuition reimbursement programme that has already contributed $53.9m.  

The programme supports a range of educational pursuits from GED [general educational development] courses to PhD programmes, with a significant portion of the beneficiaries hourly associates. 

Kroger alsoprovides on-demand training and development resources, leadership and career advancement programmes, and initiatives focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.  

The company also provides resources such as 24/7 counselling and virtual counselling services through Magellan Health and BetterHelp. 

In September 2024, Target announced its intention to hire 100,000 seasonal workers for the 2024 holiday season.  

Department store chain Macy’s also announced plans to appoint more than 31,500 employees for the 2024 holiday season in the US.
