UK-based John Lewis Partnership has revealed plans to hire for more than 10,000 positions across the country over the coming months.
The retailer, which trades from 34 John Lewis department stores and 329 Waitrose food stores, will create more than 8,400 seasonal roles in the lead-up to Christmas.
In Waitrose, the retailer will recruit more than 2,800 seasonal roles, including supermarket assistants, night shift and customer delivery drivers.
The John Lewis division will also add more than 2,900 temporary roles in sales and merchandising positions.
It will also have 2,700 seasonal roles for warehouse operatives and drivers to improve the experience on Waitrose.com, John Lewis.com and John Lewis Click and Collect orders.
Furthermore, the John Lewis Partnership will add 1,700 permanent roles for both Waitrose and John Lewis in the coming months.
John Lewis Partnership people executive director Lisa Cherry said: “We’re hugely proud of the way our two brands have become part of the excitement that surrounds Christmas and this is a great opportunity to be at the heart of that at such a special time.
“Our customers are at the forefront of everything we do; we want to deliver a great festive season for them with inspirational products and the very best customer service courtesy of our brilliant partners.”
In addition to the new roles, the retailer will launch the Waitrose Christmas range, comprising more than 140 new products for 2023.
John Lewis will also launch a Christmas shop online later this month and in-store on 27 September. It will offer decorating themes, trees, toys, tableware and gifts.
Earlier this month, the retailer announced a strategic partnership with Google Cloud to expand its relationship with Google since 2012.
