IKEA Canada, a part of IKEA store operator Ingka Group, has generated C$2.9bn ($2.1bn) in sales in fiscal year (FY) 2023.

This is an increase of 10.9% from FY22.

In its summary report for FY23, the retailer said that its national store visits increased by 6.3% to 28.6 million.

Between September 2022 and August 2023, the company’s digital channels, IKEA.ca and the IKEA app, recorded 166.4 million online visits.

During this period, it delivered 1.61 million orders and processed 602,260 Click and collect orders.

In the financial year ending 31 August 2023, IKEA Canada opened a new Beauharnois facility, which it claimed to be the first Canadian Distribution Centre in more than three decades.

The retailer also launched IKEA Kreativ, a new artificial intelligence (AI) experience through which customers can integrate and visualise design solutions in their own living spaces via the IKEA app.

It also installed 14 new electric vehicle chargers for home delivery trucks, which it says will power more than 38,500 zero-emission home deliveries across the country.

In addition, IKEA Canada plans to invest more than C$400m to optimise its fulfilment networks in Greater Vancouver and Toronto.

IKEA Canada CEO and chief sustainability Selwyn Crittendon said: "We know that more Canadians want quality and affordable home furnishings, especially given the current cost-of-living crisis.

"We're energised to be bringing touchpoints closer to where Canadians live and work, while strengthening our commitment to supporting the communities we serve and to our shared home, the planet."

In August this year, IKEA Canada opened a new small format store in Scarborough Town Centre, Toronto.
