Digital retail solutions provider Hanshow has partnered with Dutch franchise retailer Intergamma to install electronic shelf labels (ESLs).
Intergamma owns two hardware store-chains, Gamma and Karwei, which operate across the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) region.
Progress on ESL deployments covers all 128 Karwei stores as of the first quarter of 2024, with installations for Gamma outlets ongoing.
ESLs use wireless technology to communicate with a central hub to form a dynamic pricing automation network, helping retailers to reduce paper, packaging and ink usage.
Hanshow's ESL solution aims to provide real-time synchronisation of product information and pricing across all channels, reduce pricing discrepancies and improve the in-store experience.
Intergamma chief digital and technology officer Jurre Mulder commented: “Through this collaboration, we demonstrate our dedication to incorporating cutting-edge technology and improving the shopping experience for our customers. In the next nine months, we will roll out ESL in our stores for the paint and electrical tools departments. We're excited to raise the bar for retail innovation together.”
Hanshow senior vice-president and head of global sales Liangyan Li added: “We will continue to collaborate, accelerating innovation and integration, and jointly promote the digitisation and sustainable development of the DIY retail industry.”
In February 2024, grocery retail giant Lidl adopted ESLs across all its stores in the UK.
