Omnichannel retailer Food Lion has completed a $77m remodelling programme at 47 stores in Greenville, Jacksonville and New Bern in North Carolina.

The company renovated the store to create an easier and improved shopping experience for its customers.

Food Lion will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the newly remodelled stores on 2 August.

The renovated stores feature an expanded product assortment focusing on a range of ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook or ready-to-heat affordable and easy meal solutions.

Food Lion also added e-commerce options across all stores through Food Lion To Go grocery pickup or home delivery. Orders can be placed on the Food Lion To Go website or the Food Lion To Go app.

In addition, the remodelled stores have sustainability features, including energy-efficient overhead LED lighting and refrigerated cases with doors.

The majority of the stores also feature self-checkout lanes, providing customers with the option to check out with a cashier or by themselves.

In May this year, Food Lion opened its first 24 remodelled stores in Wilmington, North Carolina.
