Ahold Delhaize USA’s omnichannel retailer Food Lion has announced an expansion of its online grocery delivery service, now reaching customers across seven additional states in the US.
The move is set to make grocery shopping more convenient for residents in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Powered by Instacart, the service allows customers to order fresh products and groceries from their homes via the company's website or app.
The company is waiving the delivery fee on the first order of $35 or more.
The expansion means that Food Lion To Go Pickup or Home Delivery is now available in more than 90% of the retailer's ten-state operating area.
Food Lion's new service, in partnership with Instacart, will offer a seamless online shopping experience with a one-hour delivery window option.
Customers can also link their Food Lion MVP [most valuable person] savings loyalty card to their account for additional benefits such as digital coupons and Shop & Earn MVP rewards programme savings.
The integration of the MVP loyalty card allows customers to utilise digital coupons and view their Shop & Earn rewards at checkout.
Food Lion Digital and eCommerce director Evan Harding said: “With the summer months approaching, we are excited to expand our Food Lion To Go Home Delivery services.
“By delivering on our commitment to making grocery shopping easy and convenient, home delivery allows our customers to spend more time on what matters most to them.”
