The board of directors of major sports apparel brand NIKE has announced the appointment of Elliott Hill as its new president and chief executive officer, effective from 14 October 2024.
Elliott Hill, who previously held senior leadership roles for Nike across Europe and North America, will also join the company's board of directors and executive committee.
Before retiring in 2020, Hill served as the president of consumer and marketplace, overseeing commercial and marketing operations for Nike and the Jordan Brand globally.
Nike executive chairman Mark Parker said: “I am excited to welcome Elliott back to NIKE. Given our needs for the future, the past performance of the business and after conducting a thoughtful succession process, the board concluded it was clear Elliott’s global expertise, leadership style and deep understanding of our industry and partners, paired with his passion for sport, our brands, products, consumers, athletes and employees, make him the right person to lead Nike’s next stage of growth.”
Elliott Hill will replace John Donahoe, who will step down as the president, CEO and member of the Nike board on 13 October 2024.
John Donahoe will continue as an advisor until 31 January 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
Hill, a graduate of Texas Christian University and Ohio University, is currently a member of the TCU Board of Trustees.
Elliott Hill said: “NIKE has always been a core part of who I am, and I’m ready to help lead it to an even brighter future. I’m eager to reconnect with the many employees and trusted partners I’ve worked with over the years, and just as excited to build new, impactful relationships that will move us ahead.”
In June 2024, Nike announced a 12% increase in net income for the fiscal year 2024, reaching $5.70bn, up from $5.07bn in fiscal 2023.
