Paints and coating manufacturer and distributor Dunn-Edwards has expanded its footprint in the US with the opening of 17 new stores across Northern California, US.
This move is part of Dunn-Edwards’ broader strategy to strengthen its market position as it nears its centennial anniversary next year.
The new openings will expand its presence in the region by more than 50%.
This strategic growth initiative comes as a response to the recent closure of Kelly-Moore, another California-based paint manufacturer.
The expansion aims to meet the needs of both new and existing customers by providing enhanced access to Dunn-Edwards’ high-quality products and services.
The new store locations include San Francisco, Cupertino, Santa Cruz, Oakland, and Chico, among others.
They will offer customers improved access to Dunn-Edwards' products, services, and expert colour-matching capabilities.
Notably, the stores will feature an exact colour match for the popular Kelly-Moore hue, Swiss Coffee 23.
Currently, Dunn-Edwards operates a network of 174 stores across the Southwest.
The expansion is expected to create approximately 125 jobs, primarily for former Kelly-Moore employees, across the new locations.
In addition, Dunn-Edwards is extending its reach by increasing the number of Authorized Dealer locations throughout the US, with recent developments in California, Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas.
Dunn-Edwards COO Monte Lewis said: "For nearly a century, Dunn-Edwards has prioritised our hardworking employees, contractors, and customers. Through recent industry challenges, we believe more than ever that our people are our most valuable asset."
"The sudden closure of Kelly-Moore devastated hundreds of loyal employees and impacted painting professionals across the region. By moving quickly and decisively, we're hopeful our expansion will provide relief for those who have been affected, building trust with new and existing employees and customers for years to come."
