British co-operative group Co-op has opened new and renovated stores at multiple locations in the UK.

The retailer opened a new convenience store in Wotton Road, Charfield, in Gloucestershire.

The 2,750ft² store features everyday essentials, fresh and healthy products and Fairtrade products, along with an in-store bakery, an Ever Ground Fairtrade coffee machine and a recycling unit for soft plastics such as biscuit wrappers, pet food pouches, crisp packets and bread bags.

The store will operate as a Co-op franchise.

Charfield Co-op store manager Bryony Monrowe stated: “Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently. This includes a focus on delivering member value so that the people who own our business - our members - benefit every time they shop.”

Co-op also re-opens its store in the town of Clare, Suffolk, after five weeks of improvements.

Located in Market Hill, the 2,000ft² store features an in-store bakery and new refrigeration units to expand its range of fresh, chilled and frozen products.

The new-look store also houses a free-to-use cash machine and a soft plastics recycling unit.

The retailer is also re-opening its Malvern Link, Worcestershire, store after four weeks of renovation.

The 6,000ft² store in Worcester Road comes with an in-store bakery, a Costa Coffee Express machine, a free-to-use cash machine, customer car parking and parcel collection services through Amazon and DPD.

Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Co-op’s digital channel offer online grocery delivery services from the store.

The three stores will create a total of 41 jobs for their local communities.

In November 2023 the retailer also re-opened two stores in Great Bardfield, Essex, and Calverton, Nottinghamshire, following major transformation programmes.
