British co-operative group Co-op has reopened two stores in Great Bardfield and Calverton in the UK following major transformation programmes.

The retailer launched the 1,500ft² new-look store at Great Bardfield following seven weeks of upgrades and enhancements.

Located in St John’s Terrace, the updated store features an in-store bakery, an enhanced range of everyday essentials, food-to-go, fresh, healthy products and Fairtrade products.

To improve customers’ convenience, the store also offers parcel collection services through Amazon.

The Co-op store at Great Bardfield supports 17 local jobs.

Co-op Great Bardfield store manager Daniel Powell stated: “The store has been transformed with a fresh, bright new look inside and we are really looking forward to welcoming members and customers back into their Co-op.”

The retailer also re-launched its Calverton store after eight weeks of improvements.

In addition to the usual product offerings, the new-look store houses an in-store bakery, a Costa coffee dispenser and a free cash machine (ATM).

The 2,400ft² store also offers a click-and-collect service for groceries through shop.Coop.co.uk and parcel collection services through Amazon and DPD.

The store offers home deliveries in as little as under two hours through Deliveroo and a plastic recycle unit to recycle soft plastics, including bread bags, biscuit wrappers, crisp packets, and lids from ready meals and yogurt pots.

The store has created 15 jobs for local communities.

Co-op Calverton store manager Asha Cooper stated: “The store has a great new look, it has been transformed from floor to ceiling and we are really looking forward to welcoming members and customers back into their Co-op.

“We’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve and support our community, conveniently.”

The retailer recently reopened its store in Stornoway’s MacAulay Road after a multi-million-pound upgrade.
