UK-based co-operative group Co-op has opened a new purpose-built store in Saltaire, West Yorkshire.

Located on Bingley Road, Saltaire, the new 2,800ft² store has generated 16 jobs for local communities.

The store offers a broad range of chilled beers, everyday essentials, fairtrade products, fresh produce, flowers, food-to-go, pizzas, ready meals, vegan range, wines and more.

Saltaire’s new Co-op also has a free ATM, a customer car park, an in-store bakery and a Costa coffee dispenser.

Additionally, the store offers parcel collection services from Amazon and DPD and online grocery delivery services through Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

Co-op store manager Craig Watson said: “The store looks fantastic and we are delighted to move into our new home and 'serve up' a brand new store for the community. The team is very excited, we have been looking forward to relocating and can’t wait to welcome our Members and customers into their new and improved store.

“Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life. We have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently. With a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, our members, benefit every time they shop.”

Earlier this month, Co-op opened a new and improved convenience store on Erleigh Road, Reading.

Last month, the convenience retailer announced that it was investing £70m ($89.5m) in its pricing to lower the costs of everyday essentials.

Traditional AI is here to stay in the retail and apparel space

Initially, retailers used AI for basic tasks, including inventory management and demand forecasting. However, its usage has now become more prevalent in other aspects such as personalized marketing, customer service, pricing optimization, and supply chain management. With the rise of ecommerce and the increasing importance of data-driven decision-making, AI adoption in retail and apparel has accelerated. The industry now relies on AI to enhance the shopping experience, optimize business operations, and gain an overall competitive edge.
