UK-based co-operative group Co-op has opened a new and improved convenience store in Erleigh Road, Reading.

The new 2,600ft² store features an in-store bakery and provides other convenience services, including online home delivery of groceries through Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

In addition, customers can receive parcel services through Amazon Lockers.

The store offers a range of fresh and healthy items, chilled beers, hot food, food-to-go, daily use essentials, meal ideas, Fairtrade goods and more.

The retailer will also have a free ATM and a Costa coffee dispenser.

Launched on 1 September, Erleigh Road’s Co-op store will generate 25 local jobs.

Co-op store manager Manmohan Gill said: “It is very exciting to be re-launching Erleigh Road’s Co-op. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life and we are really looking forward to welcoming Members and customers into their new and improved store.

“We have worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community, conveniently - with a focus on delivering member-value so that the people who own our business, our members, benefit every time they shop in their local Co-op.”

The opening comes after the Co-op announced plans to open its remodelled store in Longfield, Kent in July this year.

Earlier last month, Co-op announced its biggest ever single investment of £70m ($89.5m) in its pricing as it extends its ‘member-only’ pricing across everyday essentials.
