Canada: Best Buy and Bell forge partnership for retail stores

The partnership will leverage the strengths of both companies.

Mohamed Dabo January 22 2024

Best Buy Canada and Bell Canada have recently entered into a strategic partnership aimed at managing 165 consumer electronics retail stores across Canada.

The collaboration involves rebranding The Source, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell, to Best Buy Express.

This rebranded store will offer consumer electronics from Best Buy, coupled with telecommunications services exclusively provided by Bell.

The partnership is designed to leverage the strengths of both companies, focusing on providing an enhanced shopping experience for Canadian consumers.

Best Buy and Bell plan to invest in upgrading store facilities, expanding product offerings, enhancing customer experiences, and providing comprehensive training.

Best Buy's global purchasing power and efficient supply chain are expected to bring a variety of consumer electronics from leading brands to customers.

Additionally, customers will have access to mobility, internet, TV, and home phone services from Bell, Virgin Plus, and Lucky Mobile at Best Buy Express locations, with the assurance of knowledgeable sales and support services.

Extended retail presence across Canada

Best Buy aims to expand its presence by reaching shopping centres, smaller communities, and mid-sized towns throughout Canada.

This expansion will be facilitated by repurposing 165 existing The Source locations into Best Buy Express stores.

The smaller store format is intended to offer an easily navigable and welcoming experience for customers to explore products in person and interact with sales associates.

Acknowledging the changing preferences of consumers, Best Buy Express will cater to those who prefer convenient shopping, whether in-store or online.

The e-commerce capabilities of bestbuy.ca will provide customers with a broader selection of consumer electronics, offering the flexibility of full delivery or pick-up of online orders at Best Buy or Best Buy Express stores.

Anticipated launch in H2 2024

Best Buy Express is projected to commence operations in various locations across Canada, starting in the second half (H2) of 2024.

This development aims to provide consumers with diverse options to explore and purchase consumer electronics while leveraging the existing infrastructure and support associated with Best Buy and Bell.
