British variety store chain B&M has announced the opening of its 250th garden centre.

Located in an existing B&M store in Fort Kinnaird, Newcraighall Road, Edinburgh, the new garden centre is 8,000ft² and sells a wide range of gardening essentials including plants, hardware, chemicals and fencing.

The new opening was driven by shoppers requesting a larger selection of value products.

B&M is one of the key players in the UK DIY and gardening retail market, alongside competitors B&Q, Homebase, The Range and Home Bargains.

B&M senior garden buyer Steve Davies commented: “Today is a momentous occasion, and all our colleagues at B&M can take pride in reaching this milestone in our botanica journey. We are incredibly proud of the efforts and hard work of everyone involved.”

The B&M Fort Kinnaird store manager added: “We hope customers are going to be delighted with their new garden centre. The feedback so far has been fantastic!”

The retailer recently announced the reopening of its store at The Fort shopping park in Birmingham, bringing more than 60 jobs to the local community and strengthening its footprint across the UK.

Up to May 2024 B&M’s revenue has increased 10.1% for the fiscal year, reaching £5.5bn ($6.8bn).
