Wholesale distributor Associated Grocers of Baton Rouge (AGBR) has adopted the ReposiTrak Traceability Network to automate FSMA [Food Safety Modernisation Act] 204 food traceability compliance.
The move is aimed at supporting its 240 independent retailers across five US states: Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas.
Under the FSMA 204 regulations, entities handling foods listed under the Food Traceability List must maintain detailed records of key data elements for specific critical tracking events.
This ensures that as food products are transferred or transformed within the supply chain, a comprehensive data trail is maintained for complete traceability.
The ReposiTrak solution facilitates the exchange and maintenance of critical data required by the Food and Drug Administration, enhancing the traceability of food products through the supply chain.
AGBR's supply chain comprises numerous suppliers, a distribution centre and more than 240 independent retail locations.
ReposiTrak, which has a network of more than 110,000 supplier facilities, simplifies the onboarding process for retailers, making it more efficient to comply with traceability regulations.
ReposiTrak's team of experts also identifies the most effective strategies for each company.
Associated Grocers senior vice-president and chief information officer David Politz stated: “As an organisation, it is our mission to provide our retailers with technologies that drive results and simplify the overall responsibilities of running a retail grocery store.
“Food traceability adds a new layer of complexity to day-to-day operations for many – if not all – of our members, and it was important to us to tackle this problem and find a solution that works for the retailer.”
