British supermarket chain Asda has revealed a planned £2m refurbishment of its Pilsworth store in Bury, Greater Manchester, UK.

The investment aims to streamline customer navigation and refresh the store's aesthetic, while incorporating improvements for the benefit of its staff.

The initiative is part of Asda's commitment to provide a more engaging and efficient shopping environment for the Bury community.

The renovation includes an intuitive store layout designed for easier customer navigation, a consolidated food hall showcasing both value and quality, and new equipment such as low-level refrigeration units in the produce section alongside a revamped wines and spirits zone.

Asda is also introducing new lighting and overhead signage.

The retailer plans further digital enhancements, with interactive aisle ends and a novel Rewards vending unit to deliver a connected and convenient shopping journey.

The refurbishment, spanning seven weeks, required phased temporary closures within the store.

Asda anticipates completing the project by March 2025, with sections of the store reopening progressively.

Asda has temporarily modified its opening hours to accommodate the construction activities.

Dedicated staff will be available to assist customers throughout the transition period, signage will guide shoppers around disruptions and updates will be provided on closed sections and their scheduled reopening.

An Asda spokesperson said: “This £2m investment in upgrading our Pilsworth store is focused on improving the shopping experience for hard-working families in the local community and our colleagues. We want shopping Asda Price to be as convenient and enjoyable as possible for all customers.”

Asda recently revealed plans to reduce the prices of thousands of frequently purchased items, both in-store and online, by an average of 26% as part of its Big Jan Price Drop initiative.
