Forecourt retailer Applegreen and Marks & Spencer (M&S) have entered an agreement to expand their partnership in Ireland.
As part of the ten-year agreement, 60 M&S Food concessions will be opened at Applegreen locations.
The forecourt retailer plans to open 15 new M&S Food locations by the end of 2024, taking the total number to 20.
The first three will open at Louth, Meath and Limerick, with the remaining locations to be announced in 2024.
Applegreen Ireland managing director Fiona Matthews stated: “This is great news for Irish consumers as Applegreen will now bring M&S Food products to a much wider market. M&S Food complements the existing Applegreen offer as we are always evolving to meet our customers’ high expectations.
“We have been delighted by the positive customer reaction to our partnership with M&S Food, which offers our customers greater choice and a wider product range.”
The two retailers initially entered an agreement in October 2023, which saw the opening of M&S Food concessions in five Applegreen locations offering fresh fruit, sandwiches and salads alongside Applegreen’s existing product range.
The partners have been testing a new click-and-collect service at four Applegreen stores. It will enable customers to purchase clothing online from M&S and have it delivered to Applegreen locations without charge.
Besides complementing Applegreen’s leading store proposition, the partnership stands to expand the reach of M&S Food in Ireland.
When the agreement was signed, M&S Ireland trading director Eddie Murphy stated: “This partnership will expand our footprint in Ireland and help bring delicious, great value M&S Food to even more customers. Applegreen is a fantastic Irish brand, and we are hugely excited to be partnering with them in this market.”
