German-American technology company Amsety has introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered technology to detect fraudulent consumer reviews.

Known as FACTlix, the technology uses decisional AI to identify patterns in online content, identifying fake reviews before publication. It can detect fake content generated by both humans and machines.

This software as a service comes in response to the growing issue of fake reviews influencing e-commerce revenues and consumer purchasing decisions.

70% of businesses use consumer reviews in marketing and 98% of online shoppers rely on these reviews.

The AI tool can also verify other consumer-generated content such as comments and deepfake videos.

The tool will enable search engines, online marketplaces and news websites to enhance the credibility of their content, shield customers from deceptive reviews and promote fair competition.

Amsety CEO Mustafa Behan stated: "Fake reviews are a growing problem for e-commerce. Responsible companies expend significant resources to combat this problem – but still witness a far-too-high share of fraudulent reviews.

"FACTlix enables these companies to address the issue with much higher accuracy at a fraction of the current cost.

"With testing involving more than 20 million reviews using 400 million data points, FACTlix has proven to be an accurate and reliable tool in the fight against fake reviews."

Amsety noted that FACTlix can be easily integrated as a plug-in for online platforms.

The new system complies with European standards on review quality and data protection.

The IP-protected technology is currently patent-pending internationally.
