Amazon has entered into a partnership with GrubHub to facilitate restaurant deliveries across the US.

Customers of Amazon in the US now have the ability to order from a wide selection of restaurants through Amazon's website and shopping app, covering all 50 states.

Details of the partnership

As part of the collaboration, Amazon Prime members will be provided with a complimentary Grubhub+ membership.

This membership, which ordinarily costs $120 per year, will not automatically convert into a paid subscription at the end of the membership period.

Grubhub+ offers several benefits, including no delivery fees on orders more than $12, reduced service fees, a 5% credit on pickup orders, and access to special offers.

Impact on Prime members and broader consumer access

The integration of Grubhub with Amazon’s platform is designed to offer Prime members certain benefits such as no delivery fees on eligible orders.

This service expansion is part of Amazon's strategy to add value to its Prime subscription, which includes various other benefits across different services and products.

Grubhub's CEO Howard Migdal noted that this partnership aims to make it easier for more consumers to access Grubhub's services via Amazon, potentially enhancing customer convenience and extending Grubhub's reach.

This new service option represents a significant move in the retail giant’s ongoing integration of e-commerce with food delivery services.
