Supermarket chain Aldi UK has reported its most successful Christmas ever in 2024, with sales surpassing £1.6bn in the month leading up to Christmas Eve.
Almost three million customers shopped at Aldi on 23 December - the retailer’s busiest trading day ever.
The grocer experienced a 3.4% uptick in total sales, while demand for its seasonal offerings soared by 10% compared to the previous year.
Aldi's specially selected premium line witnessed a remarkable 12% increase from the same period in 2023.
In a testament to the retailer's commitment to local produce, Aldi sold 350,000 British turkeys, more than 400 tonnes of British beef and almost three million British Brussels sprouts during the holiday period.
For the fourth consecutive year, Aldi has been named the UK's cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which? following an in-depth analysis of grocery prices across leading supermarkets.
Aldi UK CEO Giles Hurley reaffirmed the company's pledge to retain its competitive pricing strategy.
Hurley stated: "We dropped hundreds of prices last year as part of our ongoing mission to make outstanding quality, affordable food accessible to everyone.
“Our offering of outstanding quality British products at unbeatable prices was a winning combination yet again this Christmas as customers wanted to celebrate in style after an uncertain year - but with more challenges ahead, they wanted to do it without breaking the bank."
In November 2024, Aldi revealed plans to open 11 new stores across the UK before Christmas.
