UK supermarket chain Aldi has launched a "Best of British" section online, aimed at making it easier for customers to buy homegrown produce.

The new dedicated webpage features meat, everyday essentials and dairy products.

The initiative highlights the retailer’s commitment to local suppliers and British quality.

It comes as Aldi reported that more than 80% of its sales were attributed to British suppliers in 2023, making it a leader in the sale of fresh British fruit and vegetables.

The retailer partners with 5,000 suppliers across the UK and has held the top spot in the GSCOP [Groceries Supplies Code of Practice] annual survey for fair and good faith business relationships for an unprecedented ten years.

Aldi UK buying managing director Julie Ashfield stated: “Our Best of British webpage aims to give our customers the chance to navigate British products more easily whilst supporting the thousands of local suppliers that we work with.

“We are proud to champion so many British suppliers and they are at the heart of our success, allowing us to offer our customers great British quality at the best possible prices.”

Aldi follows in the footsteps of another UK retailer, Morrisons, which launched a Best of British section on its website in December 2023.

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne and 120 other cross-party MPs signed an open letter in August 2023, calling on supermarkets to establish "Buy British" sections in their online stores.
