Adidas and Geek+ open automated distribution centre in China

The facility can process more than one million pieces daily and hold up to ten million pieces of apparel and footwear.

Global sportswear brand adidas and logistics technology provider Geek+ have opened an advanced automated distribution centre in Suzhou, China.

Spanning 139,000m², the fully automated warehousing and distribution centre delivers high speed and flexibility in warehousing logistics.

According to Geek+, the facility is capable of processing more than one million pieces a day and can hold up to ten million pieces of apparel and footwear.

Adidas global chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer said: "With the establishment of this centre, Adidas aims to ramp up supply chain responsiveness, boost operational efficiency and elevate the consumer experience. We envision these logistics advancements to provide valuable insights for Adidas' global expansion."

The facility is equipped with a logistics robot solution and will address challenges that Amazon faces in its logistics and warehousing operations, including customisations for item location detection.

The robotic solution will also improve operational safety and align with the human-machine collaboration requirements.

Leveraging intelligent scheduling logic, the logistics robot solution enhances robot handling efficiency and increases overall efficiency.

It also improved the work experience for logistics centre employees, thereby increasing worker retention.
