Academy Sports + Outdoors, an American sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer, has revealed plans to open nine new stores in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024.
These stores will be located across Alabama, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia.
The expansion is part of the company's strategy to open between 15 and 17 new stores during the fiscal year 2024.
The retailer has already inaugurated three new stores during the year.
Academy Sports + Outdoors retail operations senior vice-president Eric Friederich said: "Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to continue our company growth with nine new stores this fall, making shopping with us more convenient than ever in existing markets and providing new customers with the best localised assortment of sports apparel, footwear, equipment and outdoor gear.”
Academy stores offer apparel, footwear, sports and camping equipment, and hunting and fishing gear from major national brands.
Academy also provides complimentary services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling and propane exchange. Hunting and fishing licences can also be purchased in-store.
Academy promotes its own exclusive, private-label brands: BCG, Freely, H20X, Magellan Outdoors, Mosaic, Redfield and R.O.W.
Shoppers will also have access to athletic and casual footwear, sports and outdoors equipment and clothing from leading brands such as NIKE, adidas, Yeti and Stanley, available in-store, online and through the Academy app.
In June 2024, Academy Sports + Outdoors entered an exclusive partnership with DoorDash, a local commerce platform, to provide on-demand delivery services.
