UK cargo bike delivery service provider Zedify has secured £4m investment to bolster its operations.

Investors include Barclays Sustainable Impact Capital, Mercia Ventures and Green Angel Ventures.

Zedify will use proceeds from the funding to expand into additional cities, with plans to inaugurate a new Midlands hub in October 2024.

The company aims to enhance its technological capabilities and substantially grow its team, anticipating the creation of 80 new jobs, including 20 at the Midlands hub.

The expansion is set to triple its turnover in 2024/2025.

Since its inception in 2018, Zedify has partnered with major retail brands such as Zara, parcel carriers and independent businesses to deliver a eco-friendly last-mile delivery service.

Using cargo bikes, the company has demonstrated more than 80% reduction in CO₂  emissions per kilometre when compared to electric vans.

The company operates in nine UK cities and has plans to extend its coverage to 51 towns and cities by 2028.

The latest round of funding comes after Zedify secured a £5m investment in March 2023.

The previous investment helped the company to almost double its workforce and attracted national brands such as Hello Fresh, Selfridges and Veja.

Zedify co-founder and CEO Rob King stated: “We are seeing a real appetite from leading retail brands and UK-wide businesses looking to transform their last mile logistics and invest in more sustainable delivery models, which is why we have ambitious plans to triple in size this year. This investment will be paramount to that growth, helping us scale to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding customer base.”
