Australian supermarket chain Woolworths has introduced a QR code payment system for its Everyday Rewards mobile app.
Shoppers at Woolworths and Big W stores across Australia can pay for their groceries using a QR code linked to a digital wallet on their mobile device.
The Everyday Pay from Everyday Rewards digital wallet was developed by the Woolworths’ payment arm, Wpay, and is part of the company’s strategy to digitalise its payments across the country.
Customers can use the service by downloading the Everyday Rewards app and linking it to their credit, debit or gift card.
They can scan the QR code available on the payment terminals at checkouts, which will prompt the app to automatically deduct the transaction from the registered account.
In addition to offering an alternative way to pay, the QR code system allows customers to earn reward points using the digital wallet.
