Supermarket chain Woolworths has announced its plan to establish Western Australia’s first customer fulfilment centre (CFC) in Mirrabooka, Perth North.
Woolworths’ new facility is intended address the growing demand for online grocery orders in Perth’s expanding population.
The 7,800m² facility is designed to operate like a large-scale supermarket, exclusively for fulfilling online orders, including home delivery and direct to boot services.
Personal shoppers at the CFC will select items from shelves and fridges, mirroring the in-store experience but without the presence of customers.
The introduction of the CFC is set to significantly enhance Woolworths’ e-commerce capabilities, with projections indicating a more than 50% increase in next-day delivery capacity across the greater Perth metro area. This expansion will allow more customers to select delivery times that suit their schedules.
Woolworths eComX managing director Sally Copland said: “We’re delighted to announce WA’s first Customer Fulfilment Centre, which will help us better meet the needs of Perth’s growing population for fast and convenient online groceries.

By GlobalData“Not only will the new centre create more jobs in the area, it will also provide a major capacity boost to our same day delivery and direct to boot services.”
The development, valued at $23.8m, has received state planning approval, with construction expected to begin by early 2026 and operations commencing in 2027.
The CFC is anticipated to generate around 150 new construction jobs, with more than 400 positions for personal shoppers, management, and home delivery drivers once operational.
In addition to home delivery services, the CFC will feature 12 direct to boot parking bays, catering to customers who prefer to collect their orders while on the move.
This announcement comes as Perth’s population is projected to rise significantly, potentially becoming Australia’s third-largest city by 2050.
The addition will bring Woolworths’ total number of CFCs in Australia to eight.
The facility is part of a larger industrial subdivision spearheaded by Hesperia and aims for a 5-Star Green Star Rating, incorporating sustainability features.
