The expansion marks the company’s grocery delivery service available in more than 800 stores. The retailer also plans to expand the service to more areas by adding another 800 stores this year.

Walmart US digital operations senior vice-president Tom Ward said: “Customers love our grocery delivery service. As they are busy managing jobs, soccer practice, dance lessons and social schedules we are on a mission to do more than keep a little extra money in their pockets.

“With the help of these new delivery partners, we’re making grocery shopping even easier by bringing the everyday low prices of Walmart right to the front door of customers.”

Under the deal, Walmart will also offer a three-week training programme for its personal shoppers on how to help customers choose products using the delivery programme.

To use the delivery service, customers need to place orders online at Walmart.com/grocery and on the Walmart Grocery App.

Grocery options available with this service include fresh produce, seafood, meat, bakery items, pantry staples, seasonal general merchandise, and consumables.

The online grocery delivery service offers same-day delivery and is available for price of $9.95, with a minimum order of $30.
