Walgreens Boots Alliance has implemented Zebra Technologies‘ Workcloud Actionable Intelligence software to streamline operations across its stores. 

The Chicago-based pharmacy retailer operates 8,000 locations across 50 US states. 

By adopting Zebra’s Modern Store framework, Walgreens seeks to bolster asset protection, reduce losses, empower employees with advanced technology and improve operational transparency across its stores.  

The deployment will save millions of dollars by enhancing the retailer’s operational compliance and effectively combating shrinkage. 

As a critical healthcare product and prescription medication provider, Walgreens selected Zebra’s software in response to its requirement for a new analytics tool to promptly identify and address loss-related issues.  

The retailer has also deployed Workcloud Task Management and Workcloud Demand Intelligence software, designed to minimise total retail loss, streamline task execution and optimise inventory levels.

Walgreens is capitalising on the modular nature of Zebra’s software, ensuring seamless integration with Zebra’s hardware solutions.  

The retailer’s workforce and task management systems are now interconnected with Zebra TC52 mobile computers and wearables, complemented by DS3608/MP7000 scanners and ZT610/ZT620 printers.

Zebra’s software has positively impacted 20,000 associates across asset protection, store operations, pharmacy management and inventory control. 

The new Actionable Intelligence technology has also enabled Walgreens to address critical retail challenges such as phantom inventory, shelf gaps, high shrink rates due to markdown non-compliance, and fraud detection, leading to up to 27% reduction in waste.
