British supermarket chain Waitrose is set to welcome customers back to its newly revamped John Barnes store in North London on 21 August.
The store, situated on Finchley Road, will feature a range of new and refreshed amenities, including a fully updated refrigeration system, a bakery and a fully chilled beer, wine and spirits department. It will also offer a hot wok counter, a first in Waitrose, serving ready-to-go meals.
The retailer has added a dedicated made-in-branch baguette station, a parmesan bay, and hot chicken and salad counters.
The re-opening is part of a £1bn investment by the John Lewis Partnership.
The retailer aims to refurbish 80 stores up to 2028 and launch new supermarkets for the first time in almost a decade.
Waitrose John Barnes is part of a trial for the retailer’s new concept and is the second such store after Sudbury, which opened in November 2023.
