
Americans are gearing up for a spooktacular Halloween as the National Retail Federation (NRF) forecasts record-breaking spending of $12.2bn for the holiday this year, surpassing last year’s all-time high of $10.6bn.
This exciting news comes from the NRF’s annual survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics.
Record participation: 73% to join Halloween festivities
In a delightful twist, a remarkable 73% of the population is eager to partake in Halloween festivities this year, marking an increase from 69% in 2022.
NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay expressed his enthusiasm, stating: “More Americans than ever will be reaching into their wallets and spending a record amount of money to celebrate Halloween this year.”
Traditional celebrations take centre stage
Halloween enthusiasts across the nation are set to engage in beloved traditions. The top ways Americans plan to celebrate include handing out candy (68%), decorating their homes or yards (53%) and donning costumes (50%).
In a heartwarming return to pre-pandemic norms, more consumers are also planning to throw or attend parties (32%) and take their children trick-or-treating (28%).
This year promises an abundance of Halloween fun and retailers are well-prepared to offer an array of festive decor and related items to make the celebration memorable.
