American supermarket chain Stop & Shop has revealed plans to deploy in-store Savings Station kiosks across its locations, giving easier access to digital coupon savings.

The kiosks are to be introduced in half of the chain’s stores just in time for the 2024 holiday season.

More than 350 Stop & Shop outlets will feature Savings Stations by the end of January 2025.

The concept, which underwent a trial phase in late 2023, empowers customers to swiftly activate all weekly circular digital coupons and personalised offers without a smartphone, internet access or computer.

The Savings Station is a tool to close the gap created by a lack of digital fluency and access for some groups. It ensures that all patrons, particularly those lacking technological prowess or a smartphone, can make savings equivalent to those offered through Stop & Shop’s digital channels.

Shoppers can scan their GO Rewards loyalty card or input their phone number to synchronise their digital coupons and trigger personalised offers reflective of their shopping habits.

For consumers wanting contactless interaction, a QR code is also provided for scanning.

Patrons opting for a physical reminder can obtain a printout of the digital coupons linked to their loyalty card to consult throughout their shopping journey.

At checkout, savings are automatically deducted when either the loyalty card is scanned or the phone number is entered.

Stop & Shop president Roger Wheeler said: “This rollout marks another change we’re making to remove friction and improve the shopping experience for our customers.

“We heard from customers who felt they were missing out on valuable digital coupon savings, and the Savings Station is our response to that feedback. It ensures that our customers can easily access all of our great deals, especially during the holiday season when savings are top of mind.”

Beyond facilitating the seamless loading of Stop & Shop’s weekly and personalised deals, the Savings Station will also serve as a hub for additional customer engagement, offering culinary inspiration through recipes and interactive activities for children.
