Spar Croatia has expanded its business by opening a new InterSpar Hypermarket, established with an investment of €23m, in Rijeka.
Located in a 4,000m² of space, the hypermarket will offer an extensive range of more than 30,000 products to customers.
Designed by an international architect, the retailer has spent eight months for the entire construction process of the hypermarket.
The location features an open space for various department sections to display products, as well as an Italian style restaurant with a terrace and sea view.
Other features of the store include an underground car park area with space for 222 cars and an outdoor parking area in front of the hypermarket for 40 more cars.
Spar Croatia CEO Helmut Fenzl said: “€23m was invested in the InterSpar Hypermarket in Rijeka and in addition to the store itself, the project involved the construction of access roads and a roundabout.

Different sections available inside the store, such as fresh department with local fruits and vegetables, butchery section with fresh meats and complementary herbs, health and beauty department, large value aisles and a self-service area offering nuts, juices and ready-to-go meals.
In addition, the store provides an assortment of the retailer’s own branded ‘free-from’ range of products for customers with food intolerances.
The company has also hired 120 employees to work at the hypermarket ensuring smooth operational process.
