South African fleet and mobile asset management solutions company MiX Telematics, has announced that fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) retailer SPAR Group will expand its contract of MiX’s solutions.
The SPAR Group, which owns the SPAR retail brand in the region, has been using MiX Telematics for the past nine years, with a few hundred vehicles under subscription. It supports a network of independent retailers supplying goods and services to more than 1,000 SPAR stores, across Southern Africa, through its six distribution centres.
MiX Telematics Africa managing director Gert Pretorius said: “These extensive relationships indicate how successful our solutions are at meeting the specific requirements of the FMCG industry.
“It is critical for these retailers to perform at optimum levels of efficiency, making MiX Telematics the ideal partner to help derive significant benefits.”
SPAR, in addition to using MiX’s premium solution, is now also subscribing to the MiX Track and React service to improve the productivity and safety of the vehicles and drivers.The trucks will be equipped with MiX’s hands-free, in-vehicle communications device to minimise the risk associated with making and receiving calls while driving.
SPAR Group fleet optimisation manager Derek Roos said: “The safety of our drivers and the efficient delivery of the thousands of products being transported every day is of paramount importance.
