Multinational entertainment firm Disney has entered the Indian e-commerce market with the launch of shopDisney.

The e-commerce marketplace platform offers more than 3,000 products across fashion, toys, apparel, back-to-school, accessories, and gifts. It will serve more than 500 Indian cities.

Customers can shop from its franchises including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.

The company noted that orders of Rs999 or above are eligible for free shipping.

The website will facilitate product transaction between the buyer and the third-party sellers on the platform.

Sellers on the website are all Disney licensees, and all products for sale are original and authentic, according to Disney.

Mumbai Mirror quoted Disney India consumer products executive director and head Sanjeet Mehta as saying: “With shopDisney, our endeavour is to bring genuine Disney licensed products inspired by our stories and characters to every household in the country.

“shopDisney will extend the magic of Disney and be a truly immersive experience for kids and families wherever and whenever they want.”

Additionally, shopDisney does not deliver items internationally as of now. Customers can make purchases from across the globe. However, only credit / debit cards issued in India can be used alongside an Indian delivery address.

In August last year, US retailer Target entered into a partnership with Walt Disney to open 25 Disney stores within selected stores across the country including in Texas, Montana, California, Pennsylvania, Utah and Indiana.
