Seattle-based fashion retailer Nordstrom has announced plans to open a new Nordstrom Rack in Houston, Texas, in spring 2025.

The 30,000ft² store will be located in the Westchase Shopping Centre, which is owned and managed by real estate investment trust Kimco Realty.

Kimco Realty vice-president of leasing Andrew Bell stated that Nordstrom will be “an excellent addition to the offerings at our centre.”

Nordstrom will be opening a further three locations, two in San Antonio and one in Houston, in late 2024 to expand the company’s economic impact in Texas.

The retailer currently operates eight Nordstrom stores and 21 Nordstrom Rack stores in Texas, creating 4,000 jobs statewide.

Nordstrom Rack president Gemma Lionello commented: “We’re excited to grow our footprint in the Houston market and introduce new customers to the Nordstrom experience.”

Nordstrom Rack is the company’s off-price retail division and plays a critical role in its Closer to You strategy, which focuses on an interconnected experience across physical stores and digital platforms.

The division is reportedly the largest source of new customers to Nordstrom and offers core services such as online order pickup and returns.

Nordstrom’s board of directors has recently been considering a potential take-private transaction proposed by members of the company’s founding family.
