US-based luxury department store chain Nordstrom has revealed plans to expand its off-price retail division, Nordstrom Rack, with a new store in Lakeland, Florida.

To open by autumn 2025, the new 30,000ft² store will be situated in the Lakeside Village shopping centre.

The addition is part of the company’s ongoing growth strategy and commitment to the Florida market.

The retailer currently operates six Nordstrom and 19 Nordstrom Rack stores, creating more than 2,800 jobs in the state.

Nordstrom Rack plays an integral role in Nordstrom’s “Closer to You” strategy, which aims to offer a more interconnected experience between physical stores and digital platforms.

Customers can receive 70% discounts on apparel, accessories, beauty products and home decor.

Nordstrom Rack Lakeside location will offer online order pick-up from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com.

Nordstrom Rack president Gemma Lionello said: “We look forward to being a part of the Lakeland community and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices. We’re excited to grow our footprint in the Tampa market and introduce new customers to Nordstrom Rack.”

The location is strategically chosen for its accessibility, close to Harden Boulevard and Polk Parkway.

The shopping centre, owned and managed by Continental Realty Corporation, also houses retailers such as Kohl’s and Belk.

Continental Realty Corporation commercial division vice-president Kristina O’Keefe said: “We are thrilled that Nordstrom Rack is joining Lakeside Village. As a premier open-air lifestyle centre in Lakeland, Florida, Lakeside Village is dedicated to offering quality experiences, and the addition of Nordstrom Rack will provide our community with even more exceptional shopping options.

In addition to its retail operations, Nordstrom is dedicated to supporting local communities. Since 2020, it has contributed more than $2m in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the US. These funds aid in mentorship programmes that foster significant developmental experiences for youth.

In July 2024, Nordstrom revealed plans to open a new 31,000ft² Nordstrom Rack location in Coral Springs, Florida.
